Teachers

Recruitment Overview

Our team is made up of music graduates from some of the world’s leading universities and conservatoires. Building relationships with institutions offering the highest standard of music degrees is a key part of our recruitment process. Each year we attend careers fairs and build networks within these universities to ensure that we are in touch with high-quality music graduates from around the country. Many of our teachers have come from our own network of professional musicians and over the years, new members have joined our teaching team after being recommended by a current teacher or an alumni from their university. We also advertise positions online on a range of recruitment websites and jobs bulletins within the music and teaching industries.

You’ve heard about a current vacancy and have expressed an interest in a position with Sing Education – so, what’s next?

A member of our recruitment team will be in touch to tell you a little more about the role and to send you an online application form. This covers areas including our core values, your experience and other relevant information to the application to give us a clear picture of you, from your qualifications, to your suitability for delivering music lessons within the primary setting.

Need any assistance or have any accessibility needs? Please let us know and we will be on hand to help.

The photo shows a close-up view of a sheet of music, with musical notations and staff lines crisply focused in the foreground, while the background softly blurs out. The sheet music appears to be a classical score, with dynamic markings and Italian instructions for the musician, suggesting a piece that is rich in expression and technical detail.

Interview Progression Stages

Phone or video interview

Then onto the telephone or video call interview stage. Telephone or Zoom calls are typically with one of Sing Education’s directors, or if applying for cover roles, with our cover coordinator. Telephone and video interviews are a chance for us to get to know you a little more, to find out about your skills and experience and are also an opportunity for you to find out more about what we do at Sing Education. You may be asked to deliver a short musical activity which will have been sent to you prior to the interview.

Face-to-face or video interview

Upon a successful telephone or video interview, we would then arrange to meet you in person. These meetings are an opportunity for us to ask you about some typical teaching sessions, to discuss how you would respond to certain classroom scenarios, to discuss teaching approaches and classroom management in a little more detail and to find out more about your experience.

You will be able to find out more about our bespoke resources and training and to show us how you might fit in with the Sing Education team and how you would incorporate our core values and teaching principles.

Chance to Shine in the Classroom

Following successful telephone/video and in-person interviews, we invite applicants for a classroom demonstration interview. These are a chance to come alongside one of our current Sing Education teachers or directors in the classroom and to deliver a couple of pre-prepared activities taken from our resources. It is an opportunity to deliver some typical Sing Education activities within a lesson and for us to see you teach and interact with the children.

It’s gone well so far and I’d love to join the team – now what?

Following a successful classroom interview and pending successful references from previous employers and all relevant safeguarding checks including full enhanced DBS checks, an offer of a job will be made, and we will begin the process of welcoming you to the Sing Education team!
