Sing Education delivers singing-led, primary music education to schools across the UK, including London, Kent and North Yorkshire. We aim to place teachers in schools closer to home.
Sing Education delivers primary music education into a range of academic settings across the UK. We aim to bring the message of singing-led, whole class music learning to every local borough. Currently our main delivery locations include London, Kent and North Yorkshire. When we look to expand to a new teaching location for Sing Education, we consider a number of important factors.
First and foremost, we seek to work with schools that are passionate about music.
We look to engage with head teachers who are really committed to implementing good music within their school, or improving the quality of music programming currently at their school. These are the kinds of educational professionals who know what they want as outcomes but just may not be sure how to secure the right type of provision to suit their needs. But nonetheless they come to the table excited, engaged and already knowledgeable about the difference music makes for young learners.
But we also think about what matters to our teachers as well.
For example, we always consider the location of the school in relation to our teachers, and we think carefully about where we place teachers in relation to their school, so that travel time is of a minimum and so that they can play an active part in the school community. Minimising distance means that teachers often live in the local area and allows them to become familiar with broader community needs, concerns and priorities. This enables teachers to be “plugged in” to their schools at a grassroots level.
Currently all of our schools are in Greater London – and thus most places are very accessible by public transport – not to mention by car, if you drive. As a bonus most schools provide car parks for staff. At present, most of our teachers take public transport, some drive, a lucky few are able to walk, and lastly some opt to cycle – choosing whichever travel mode best fits their needs and lifestyle.
In addition, we like to identify schools specifically looking to invest in specialist expertise.
A school that wants a well-trained, dedicated music teacher to help boost delivery at their school. The idea here being that the school wants to benefit from securing a professional music educator who’s working from Sing Education’s bespoke Schemes and resources, is fully trained up in our educational and classroom management techniques and who’s well-connected with peers working in various primary school locations across London. We’ll always shortlist a school wanting to implement music for those reasons.
